Brandon Barkus said the enjoyment of futsal in the Augie Academy spurred the interest in holding the inaugural VFC last year.
Futsal is a variation of soccer played on a smaller field, usually indoors, with five players to a team (one of which is a goalkeeper), and a slightly different ball. Futsal is popular worldwide due to its emphasis on creativity and improvisation while the smaller ball with less bounce and hard playing surface highlight different techniques than in traditional soccer.
