TUCSON, Ariz. – Augustana softball defeated Missouri-St. Louis 5-4 to win their second game of the day and move to 3-1 in pool play at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. The Vikings are now 3-1 on the regular season while the Tritons drop to 1-3 to open the 2013 season.
Carley Pickett earned her first collegiate win for the Vikings and
Jenelle Trautmann notched her first save of the season, holding off the Tritons. Trautmann also led off the fourth inning with a home run.
Theresa McMahon drove in a pair of runs while going 2-4 at the dish and
Erin Kempf reached base three times with a 2-2 performance while drawing a walk. Kempf also scored two runs and
Jenny Brown and Pickett also knocked in a run apiece.
The Vikings await the remaining second-day game results as they will be placed in either the gold or silver brackets to play on day three.
