USD OPEN RESULTS | SNOWSHOE OPEN RESULTS
VERMILLION, S.D. – Augustana crowned two champions and provisionally qualified in four events on a busy Friday night for the Vikings.
At the University of South Dakota Open, Kayla Mescher and Aaron Jung each provisionally qualified in their respective events and their marks rank in the top 20 in Division II. Mescher won the 800-meter run by three seconds with a 2:15.14 time which ranks 17th in the NCAA. Jung placed fourth overall in the shot put, but his mark of 16.64 meters was good enough for 15th in Division II and a provisional qualification.
The men's distance medley relay team ran at the Snowshoe Open and posted a 10:01.58, 14th in Division II. Henrik Hansson also qualified in the 800-meter run with a 1:52.83 time.
Joining Mescher as a champion at the USD Open, Justin Greenway took home a 200-meter dash title, posting a 22.40 seconds time. Also, in the 200-meter dash, Karmen and Kirsten Nyberg finished second and third, respectively.
Skyler Kuil finished his 51.47 second 400-meter dash to earn third place and Jordan Slusser continued to run well, finishing second in the 800-meter run.
Competing unattached, graduate assistant Riley Northrup won the men's high jump at the USD Open, clearing 1.95 meters after shaking off the dust from his jumping shoes.
The Vikings ended their regular season on Friday night and now prepare for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships on Feb. 22 and 23.
