FARGO, N.D. – Jordan Slusser and Emma Anderson each captured titles in the 1,000-meter run to highlight Augustana's performances at the North Dakota State University Bison Open on Saturday. Slusser also finished first in the one-mile run.
Slusser completed his 1,000-meter run in 2:35.68 and Anderson owned the best time for the women with a mark of 3:07.32 as both came away with first-place finishes.
Slusser and John Klecker finished one-two in the one-mile run with Slusser clocking a 4:19.36 and Klecker crossing the finish line in 4:20.06.
Staying on the distance events, Keegan Carda earned a second-place finish with a 15:35.28 time in the 5,000-meter run.
The only provisional qualifier at the Bison Open was CJ Ham who finished fifth in the shot put with a 15.8-meter toss to improve his already qualifying mark from a few weeks ago. Ham also placed seventh in the weight throw.
In the high jump, Katie Guse and Kelsey Kauffman each cleared 1.60 meters, but Guse came away with a third-place finish by clearing her highest mark with less fouls than Kauffman.
In the women's 200-meter dash, the sisters Nyberg collected third- and fifth-place finishes. Karmen clocked a 26. 11 time for third and Kirsten finished in fifth at 26.38. Karmen also finished sixth in the 400-meter dash.
Kaylynn Erlandson hit a mark of 10.99 meters in the triple jump to finish in fifth. Also in fifth, Ryan Heuer clocked an 8.51 second time in the 60-meter hurdles finals.
Again on the short-circuit, Justin Greenway completed 200 meters in 22.55 seconds for fourth place and Grant Gebhardt finished sixth with a time of 7.1 seconds in the 60-meter dash.
Skyler Kuil placed sixth in the 400-meter dash at 51.08 seconds and Kaitlyn Yoerg completed her mile run in 5:24.32 for a sixth-place finish as well.
The Vikings compete in the University of South Dakota Twilight Open on Feb. 15 as their final meet before the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships.
