Vikings finish second at Griffon Invitational

FINAL RESULTS

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. –
Augustana fired a 329 in the second round, 11 strokes better than day one, and moved up to finish second out of 10 teams at the Griffon Invitational in St. Joseph, Mo. on Monday. Allie Ostrander and Jennifer Pederson both finished at 20-over-par 164 in the 36-hole tournament.

Minnesota State earned the team title just two strokes ahead of Augustana at 667. MSU shot a 328 in round one and fired a 339 this afternoon. Augustana fired a team score of 340 on Sunday before tallying a 329 this afternoon.

Rebecka Surtevall, from Arkansas Tech, was the individual medalist finishing at 14-over-par 158 for the tournament.

Maggie Leland fired a 170 (86-84) to finish 14th overall at 26-over-par. Jennifer Benoy, competing as an individual for the Vikings, also tied for 14th at 26-over 170 (85-85).

Emily Kvidera posted a 27-over-par 171(85-86) in the 36-hole tournament to finish 14th overall. Kelsey Bortnem, who also competed as an individual for Augustana, was 10 strokes better in round two and finished 32nd overall with a 36-over-par 180 (95-85).

Marisa Toivonen completed the two-day tournament at 38-over-par 182 and finished in a tie for 39th.

Augustana returns to action this Saturday and Sunday at the Upper Iowa Invitational in Waterloo, Iowa.
