Jung and Falch nab athlete of the week honors from the NSIC

NSIC RELEASE

BURNSVILLE, Minn.
– Augustana's Runa Falch was named the NSIC Women's Track Athlete of the Week and Aaron Jung earned NSIC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors the league announced on Monday.

This is Jung's second honor of the year and Falch's first of the outdoor season - she took home the first weekly honor during the indoor season.

Falch narrowly missed breaking her own meet record when she took the title in the 1,500-meter run at the Sioux City Relays.  Falch clocked a 4:34.15, less than half of a second behind her previous record time at the meet last season.  The Norway native now owns the top 1,500-meter time in the NSIC and 17th overall in NCAA Division II.

Jung broke the school record on the way to winning his third shot put event title of the season at the Sioux City Relays.  Jung heaved the shot 17.30 meters (56' 9.25”) to break the old record by three inches and now owns the top mark in the NSIC.  Jung's record toss, his third provisional-qualifying toss of the season, ranks fourth among all Division II competitors.

The Vikings will send some of their top athletes to the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif. on April 18 and 19 and the remainder of the team will compete at the Red Raider Open hosted by Northwestern College on April 19 and 20.
