SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Augustana's Katie Jesperson and Jessa Richards had their run at the USTA/ITA Central Region Championships come to an end with a loss in the doubles championship match on Sunday afternoon.

Facing the 2013 NCAA Central Region champions, Jesperson and Richards couldn't keep their winning streak alive in the fall championships.  The top Viking doubles pairing lost the championship match 6-2, 6-1 to Fanni Varga and Christina Zentai of Southwest Baptist. 

Jesperson and Richards won four matches over the weekend before falling in straight sets to SBU's top pairing.  Varga was part of the 2012 championship doubles team and defeated her teammate for the 2013 singles title as well.

The Vikings return to the court on Oct. 5 and 6 when they host the Augustana Invitational at the Huether Tennis Centre on the Campus of Augustana College.
