SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana College volleyball team defeats Upper Iowa University in four sets Friday night in the Elmen Center with scores of 18-25, 25-15, 25-17, and 25-18.

With the victory, the Vikings improved to 15-7 (8-6 NSIC), while the Peacocks dropped to 10-12 (5-9 NSIC).

Courtney Ysker fueled the offense for Augustana recording her 11th double-double of the season tallying a career-high 25 kills and 19 digs. Ysker added a season-best .404 (25-6-47) attack percentage in the four-set victory.

Kelsey Kaufmann was a spark off the bench for the Vikings as she marked two career-bests recording 11 kills and seven digs. Ashley Wilson added 12 kills.

Marissa Johnson dished out a season-best 51 assists tallying her 12th double-double of the season.

In the first set, Augustana started off strong jumping out to a 9-3 lead. The Peacocks retaliated going on a 5-0 run only to trail the Vikings by one point. Upper Iowa built their advantage grabbed eight out of the next ten points to jump ahead for the first time in the set 16-11. The Peacocks never looked back, taking the first set 25-18. Ysker led the Vikings with six kills.

Augustana regrouped and regained focus in the second set taking an early 6-1 lead, The Vikings kept charging ahead to lead 14-4 later in the set. The Peacocks looked to get back on track going on a 4-0 run, but two final errors from Upper Iowa gave Augustana the boost they needed, taking the second set 25-15.

Both team headed into intermission tied at 1-1.

The Vikings came out of the intermission with an early 8-3 lead paced by two back-to-back kills from Ysker and Bailey Koch. Upper Iowa responded going on a 4-0 to cut Augustana's lead by four points. Three back-to-back errors from the Vikings allowed the Peacocks to come back into the third set only to trail 19-14 with Augustana ahead. Two kills from Kaufmann pushed Augustana's lead to six points allowing the Vikings to take the third set 25-17.

To start the fourth set, Augustana jumped out to an early 3-1 lead. Upper Iowa attempted to break up the Vikings rhythm tying the set at six apiece early in the set. Ysker tallied two kills for Augustana to push ahead 13-9, but the Peacocks went back on a 4-0 to only trail 16-14. The Vikings took the fourth and final set sparked from two final kills from Ysker winning 25-18.

Upper Iowa's Hailey Brown led Upper Iowa with 11 kills.

Augustana return to action tomorrow welcoming Winona State to the Elmen Center. First serve is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
