BOX SCORE

BEMIDJI, Minn.
– No. 20 Augustana shook off a rough first 60 seconds in its 3-1 win against Bemidji State on Saturday in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Vikings' record improved to 8-1 (6-0 NSIC) with the victory, while the Beavers fell to 3-6 (2-4 NSIC) on the year.

Augustana's 8-1 start to the season is the best in program history.

The Vikings held a 22-15 advantage in shots in the contest.

Senior Payton Pry had two goals, including the game-winner, for Augustana, upping her team-leading total to seven on the year.

Samantha Tymkowicz scored her fifth goal of 2014 in the victory during the second half.

Ashley Limmer recorded seven saves in the contest, highlighted by a diving one-hand save a little over midway through the second half.

"This season I think we have been keeping a positive mentality, no matter what the situation," Limmer said when asked about the difference this year's team and previous teams. "The leadership on this team has kept everyone focused on what they can do to contribute in a positive way, whether it's on or off the field."

BSU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just 28 seconds into the match after a Bayley Ertl goal gave Bemidji State the advantage.

The Vikings, showing their composure, got back into the match with the equalizer from Pry in the 24th minute of play. Jessica Madson was credited with her first assist of the season on Pry's goal.

The Lawton, Iowa native struck again less than three minutes later, scoring her second goal of the day to give Augustana a 2-1 lead.

The Vikings were in control the rest of the half, taking a 2-1 lead into the break.

In the second half, Augustana kept pushing its attack and made it a two-goal game at 3-1 on Tymkowicz's goal at the 66:32 mark in the contest. Tymkowicz took a low, penetrating pass from Meg Thacker and fired it past Bemidji State's Sonja Barr and into the back of the net.

The Vikings' defense shut down the Beavers' offense the rest of the way, securing the 3-1 win and extending their winning streak to eight games.

Augustana closes out the road trip on Sunday in a matchup with Minnesota Crookston (3-3-3, 2-2-2 NSIC). Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
