CROOKSTON, Minn. – No. 20 Augustana soccer saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end in a 1-0 loss to Minnesota Crookston on Sunday in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchup. The Vikings fell to 8-2 (6-1 NSIC) with the loss, while the Golden Eagles improved to 4-3-3 (3-2-2 NSIC) on the year.
Augustana was limited to a season-low four shots in the defeat.
UMC picked up its first win over the Vikings in over a decade with the 1-0 shutout victory.
Minnesota Crookston's Miranda Mosher recorded the lone goal of the contest during the early moments of the second half.
Ashley Limmer made two saves in the loss for the Vikings.
Four players each had a shot for Augustana, ending a four-game run of at least 20 shots put up by the Viking offense.
Both teams fought to a 0-0 tie in the first half, with the Golden Eagles controlling possession for the majority of the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, UMC made its move, getting the game-winner from Mosher in the 49th minute of regulation. Rachel Alcini was credited with the assist on the play.
The Vikings tried to mount an attack in the later stages of the half, but just couldn't convert any scoring chances they created for themselves, eventually falling 1-0.
Augustana is back next in action next Saturday in a matchup with St. Cloud State at Morstad Field.
