SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana volleyball team beat Bemidji State with a four-set victory Friday night in the Elmen Center by the scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-20, and 25-19.
With the win, the Vikings improved to 17-10 (10-9 NSIC), while the Beavers dropped to 5-22 (3-15 NSIC).
Four Augustana players recorded double-digits kills on the night.
Brittany Cech recorded her sixth double-double with 14 kills and 20 digs.
Ashley Wilson also led the Vikings with 14 kills.
Courtney Ysker tallied her 14th double-double in the four-set victory tabbing 13 kills and 11 digs.
Bailey Koch rounded out the top four performances with 11 kills.
Tahlyr Banks led Augustana defensively, tying a career-best 30 digs for the second time this season. Setter
Marissa Johnson pitched in a season-best 54 set assists.
The Vikings jumped out to an early 10-6 lead in the first set forcing Bemidji State to take a timeout. Augustana followed by going on a 6-0 run, never looking back winning the first set 25-18.
Both team battled in the second set tying nine different times before the Beavers jumped ahead to take the lead 17-14. The Vikings went on a 3-0 run to cut its deficit to only two points. Two final kills from Bemidji State gave them the set with a score of 25-20 Both team headed into intermission tied 1-1 in the match.
Augustana in set three was in control for the majority of the set as they built an early 11-6 advantage over the Beavers. Bemidji State retaliated later in the set, going on a 5-2 run only to trail the Vikings by five points. A final attack error from the Beavers allowed Augustana to take the third set 25-20.
In the fourth and final set, Bemidji State went on a 5-1 run to gain an early lead over the Vikings with a score of 8-7. Augustana came storming back going on an 8-1 run late in the fourth set, pushing ahead 19-15. The Vikings scored the three final points in the set to gain a 25-19 win and earn the match victory.
Augustana closes out regular season tomorrow hosting Minnesota Crookston in the Elmen Center. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.
