The Short Story: Five players scored in double-figures, led by
Adam Beyer's career-high 20 points, as Augustana College won its fourth straight to improve to 11-1 (5-1 NSIC) on the season. Augustana finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field and hit a season-high 12 3-pointers in the win.
How it happened• Augustana never trailed on the night, marking the third straight game the Vikings have gained an early lead and never let it get away.
• Augustana took a six-point lead at 8-2 after
Daniel Jansen converted a three-point-play and Wayne State never got within closer than that the entire night.
• The Vikings built a 10-point lead just under four minutes into the game and the two teams traded baskets over the next 11 minutes before Augustana went on a tear over a four-minute stretch.
• Augustana went on a 19-4 run, that included three-pointers from Beyer,
Casey Schilling and
Jordan Spencer, that gave the Vikings a 51-26 lead with just over three minutes remaining in the first half.
• The Vikings shot 61 percent (22 of 36) from the field in the first half, connecting on 8 of 16 shots from 3-point range.
