MATCH SCORES
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - No. 38 Augustana extended its conference match-winning streak to 44 consecutive wins with a 9-0 shutout of cross-town rival Sioux Falls in their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener on Friday night. The Vikings improve to 2-0, 1-0 in the NSIC, while USF drops their season-opening match, falling to 0-1 overall and in the NSIC.
All six Vikings won their singles matches in straight sets and no Cougar singles player won more than three games in a set.
Beginning with doubles matches, the Vikings built a 3-0 lead in the team score, led by the No. 2 ranked doubles pairing in the Central Region,
Katie Jesperson and
Jessa Richards. Augustana's No. 1 doubles duo made quick work of their USF counterparts, shutting them out 8-0.

Jenna Helleberg and
Christine Olivo added their second win of the season with an 8-1 win on Friday night. Third-flight doubles tandem
Heather Sullivan and
Meredith Lawrence rolled to an 8-4 for the 3-0 Viking lead.
Jesperson then proved her No. 5 singles ranking in the Central Region with a quick 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Richards, ranked No. 15 in the Central Region, overpowered her opponent in a 6-0, 6-1 win in the second flight singles match.
Francesca Beg showed her across-the-pond talents to the NSIC with a 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Olivo added the Vikings seventh win of the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.
Helleberg and Sullivan then closed the door on the Cougars with Helleberg winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Sullivan taking the No. 6 singles match 6-1, 6-0.
Augustana now hosts Upper Iowa tomorrow, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Sioux Empire Fitness.
