Men's tennis drops first match of Puerto Rico trip to St. Joe's

- Augustana men's tennis was overmatched in a 9-0 loss to Division I St. Joseph's in their first spring trip match on Monday. The Vikings fall to 3-6 on the season and the Hawks improve to 4-2.
 
The action began in a tightly contested No. 1 singles match, but first-flight Jared Hofer Augustana was upended 7-5, 6-2 in his match. Jackson Buchanan slid up to the No. 2 slot but was defeated 6-0, 6-1.
 
Collin Noldner lost his No. 3 singles match 6-3, 6-1 and Colan Surrat was defeated 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4. Brock Baade pulled within a couple games of his fifth-flight singles match, but his SJU opponent pulled away with a 6-3, 6-2 win.
 
Evan Richards suffered the final singles defeat, falling 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
 
The doubles matches fated the same results for the Vikings, finishing the sweep for the Hawks. Hofer and Noldner were defeated 8-2 at the top spot, Buchanan and Baade fought but fell short in their No. 2 doubles match, 8-4. Surratt and Richards were then finished in the third-flight doubles match by an 8-1 margin.
 
The Vikings will take a day off tomorrow before facing off with Wabash at 9:30 a.m.
