MATCH SCORES
PUERTO RICO - Augustana women's tennis rebounded from their first loss of the season with an 8-1 win over Robert Morris (Ill.) on Wednesday morning. The Vikings reach double-digit wins on the season and now own a 10-1 record while the Eagles fall to 1-5 this season.
Augustana opened the match taking five of the six singles contests, losing their only match in three sets.
Katie Jesperson and
Jessa Richards returned to their winning ways with dominating wins in their first- and second-flight singles matches. Jesperson tallied a 6-3, 6-2 victory and Richards coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Francesca Beg was the only Viking to suffer a defeat in Augustana's second spring break match, falling in three sets. Beg responded after dropping the first set, but came up short in the super-tiebreaker, 6-2, 1-6, 10-5.
Chrisitne Olivo was ahead in her No. 4 singles match, 5-4, before her opponent retired due to injury.
Heather Sullivan put the finishing touches on the singles matches with a 6-0, 6-0 win. The Eagles did not field a sixth player so the Vikings earned a victory by default.
The Vikings easily won the two doubles matches contested and earned a third win by default to complete the doubles sweep. Jesperson and Richards nearly shut their opponents out, winning 8-1 at the top spot and
Jenna Helleberg and
Meredith Lawrence recorded an 8-4 win.
Augustana will hold two matches tomorrow beginning with Division I Providence at 7:30 a.m. before taking on Puerto Rico-Mayaguez at noon.
