PUERTO RICO
- Augustana women's tennis reeled off two more wins on their spring break trip as they shut out Division I Providence and local University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. The Vikings improve their season record to 12-1 and 3-1 on their current spring break trip.

Augustana 9, Providence 0
Augustana showed off their No. 41 ranking in Division II by shutting out Division I Providence 9-0 in the first of two matches on Thursday. The Vikings swept the singles matches, winning five in straight sets, before cruising to three doubles wins in which they didn't allow the Friars to win more than three games in a single super set.

Katie Jesperson opened the match by winning the No. 1 singles first set in a tiebreaker then coasted to a second-set win for a 7-6 (3), 6-1 victory.  Jessa Richards was also tested in her first set, but the two-time NSIC player of the week emerged with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.

Christine Olivo slid up to No. 3 singles and proved her mettle with a 6-1, 6-4 win. Jenna Helleberg then took Olivo's former singles spot and came away with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Meredith Lawrence made a seamless transition to the fifth-spot, recording her sixth 6-0, 6-0 win of the season. Liz Lewis rebounded from a 6-0 first set loss to keep the Vikings' singles winning streak intact. The senior battled to a 0-6, 6-1, 6-0 win.

Doubles action resembled the singles contests with the Vikings dominating the Friars. Jesperson and Richards closed out an 8-1 win at the No. 1 doubles match.

Olivo and partner Heather Sullivan deflected Providence's No. 2 doubles team with an 8-3 win. Helleberg and Lawrence then put the final nails in the Friars' coffin with an 8-0 victory.

Augustana 9, Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 0
The Vikings continued logged their third straight win with another resounding 9-0 win, this time over Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. Three Vikings secured 6-0, 6-0 wins in the singles matches and all three doubles pairing slid up one spot to provide three wins for their second shutout of the day.

Jesperson opened match two with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles and Richards was one game away from logging a double-bagel victory of her own, instead winning 6-1, 6-0.

Again at No. 3, Olivo provided a straight-set win and despite some adversity, the freshman came out with a 7-5, 6-3 win. Helleberg and Lawrence then supplied the match-clinching wins with 6-0, 6-0 wins each.

Jessica Spalding notched a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles to give the Vikings a singles weep heading into doubles competition.

With each doubles pairing playing up one spot, the Vikings battled through some tough matches, but maintained the shutout. Olivo and Sullivan earned the deciding break for an 8-6 win at the top, Helleberg and Lawrence registered an 8-4 victory at No. 2, and Lewis and Spalding sealed the sweep by an 8-1 margin.

The Vikings close out their spring trip with a match against Valparaiso at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow.
