Ostrander, Toivonen set for NCAA Championships

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –
Augustana's Allie Ostrander and Marisa Toivonen qualified for the 2014 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships both finishing tied for seventh at the Central Region Championships last weekend. The NCAA Championships will begin Wednesday, May 14, at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C., and will consist of 72 holes of competition.
 
The top three individuals from each of the four regions that are not on a qualifying team were selected to compete in the NCAA Championships. In total, 12 individuals will compete concurrently with 12 teams for a total of 72 individual participants.
 
Ostrander finished in a tie for seventh overall at the Central Region championships earning a bid to the NCAA Championships as an individual. Ostrander will be competing at the national tournament for the fourth straight season. She fired a 74 in each of the first two rounds of the region championships before closing-out the tournament with an 83 to finish at 15-over-par 231. Ostrander placed 27th individually at the NCAA Championships as a sophomore shooting a 35-over-par 323. Ostrander has five top-10 finishes this season, including four in the top five and owns a 79.8 stroke average on the season.
 
Toivonen will be participating in her second NCAA Championships after finishing in a tie for 23rd overall as a freshman last season. Toivonen finished in a tie for seventh at the Central Region Championships last weekend qualifying as an individual after shooting a 15-over-par 231. Toivonen was better each day at the region championships shooting an 80 on day one, a 76 on day two before carding a 75 in the final round. She leads the team with nine top-10 finishes this season and a 79.1 stroke average.
