Toivonen brings home highest individual finish in school history at NCAA Championships

CONOVER, N.C. –
Marisa Toivonen fired a two-over-par 73 in the final round of the NCAA Championships and finished in fourth place overall at eight-over-par 292 (73-74-72-73) marking the highest individual finish by an Augustana women's golfer in school history. Emily Kvidera had the previous high individual finish at the NCAA Championships when she placed seventh in 2009-10.
 
Toivonen was the highest finisher amongst the 12 individuals competing at the NCAA Championships. Louise Manalo of Lynn University won the individual title at three-over-par 287 (72-73-74-68) helping her team to a national championship.
 
Senior Allie Ostrander fired a 12-over-par 83 in the final round of the national tournament and finished 51st overall at 31-over-par 315 (76-72-84-83).
 
Toivonen fired three birdies on the afternoon, going one-under-par on holes four, six and eight on the front nine. She missed par just twice on the back nine shooting a bogey on holes 11 and 15 to finish the day at two-over-par. Toivonen shot her lowest round of the tournament in round three to go along with a pair of 73's in rounds one and four.
 
Ostrander closed-out her stellar career at Augustana with a 51st place finish at the NCAA Championships shooting 31-over-par 315, including an 83 in today's final round. Ostrander has competed at the national tournament in four straight seasons for the Vikings, finishing as high as 27th as a sophomore.
 
Augustana won its fifth straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship in 2013-14. The NCAA Championships concludes the 2013-14 season for the Augustana women's golf team.
