AXTELL, Neb. – Head Coach
Steve Klock and the Augustana men's golf team picked up their second third place finish this season after a strong final round at the UNK Invitational on Monday.
The Vikings shot a 291 in the final 18 holes to bring their three-round total to a 28-over-par 892 (312-289-291), five shots behind runner-up Dodge City Community College.
Minnesota State took home the team title pretty handily, winning by 20 strokes over Dodge City with a score of three-over-par 867 (291-286-290) in the 15-team tournament.
Ross Miller received medalist honors after putting together a terrific final round score of 68 to beat out Trey Herman for the top spot by one shot. Miller finished the tournament with a two-day score of 211 (72-71-68), five under par.
Parker Klitzke paved the way for Augustana to get its second top-3 finish, already two more than last season, by shooting an even-par 216 (71-73-72) in three rounds of play.
Drew Trautman made a move up the leaderboard on Tuesday, jumping five spots into a tie for 24th after scoring a three-over-par 75 in the final round. Trautman's three-round total for the tournament was 226 (79-72-75).
Tyler Jensvold tied for 30th after putting up a one-over-par 73 on the final day of competition, bringing his final total to 228 (82-73-73).
Clay Kopplin kept up his great play from the second round and posted a one-under-par 71 on Tuesday. Kopplin's one-under-par 71 for a second straight round to bring his total to 229 (87-71-71) for the event, good for a tie for 35th.
Sophomore
Collin Hammer rounded out the lineup for the Vikings after tying for 71st with a total score of 244 (80-75-89).
Augustana will next be in action on Sept. 22 for the Jackrabbit Invite at the Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Fall, S.D.
