FINAL RESULTS
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana College women's golf took five strokes off its first round score, shooting a 302, winning its annual fall invite with a 41-over-par 609 (307-302). The Vikings finished 32 strokes ahead of Minnesota State (641) and recorded the top four finishers in the eight-team event.
Marisa Toivonen won her first collegiate individual medalist honor placing first at just three-over-par 145 (73-72). Toivonen finished two-over-par in the first round on Saturday before firing a one-over-par 72 to secure first place by eight strokes.
In her first collegiate tournament,
Emily Israelson picked up a second-place finish at 11-over-par 153. Israelson posted a five-over-par 76 on Saturday before shooting six-over-par this afternoon. Right on Israelson's heels were two more Viking freshmen in
Sierra Langlie and
Kali Trautman.
Langlie and Trautman tied for third overall at 12-over-par 154. Langlie was four strokes better in round two, shooting a four-over-par 75 this afternoon. Trautman, who was competing as an individual for the Vikings, took two strokes off her first round score, shooting a five-over-par 76 on Sunday.
Augustana had five players finish in the top 10 and six in the top 15 of the 56 participants.
Jordan Bormann finished seventh overall at 15-over-par 157 (79-78).
Jennifer Pederson placed 15th shooting a 20-over-par 162 (80-82).
Katie Grevlos,
Abby Martin,
Matty Tschider and
JoDee Wheeler were all competing as individuals for Augustana this weekend. Grevlos posted a 22-over-par 164 (81-83) to tie for 18th overall while Martin tied for 28th at 29-over 171 (87-84).
Tschider was 11 strokes better than her first round today shooting an 83, to finish tied for 36th at 35-over-par 177 (94-83). Wheeler finished 44th at 41-over-par 183 (87-96) in the season-opening tournament.
Augustana returns to action next Saturday and Sunday at the Concordia-St. Paul Invitational at Tartan Park Golf Course in Lake Elmo, Minn.
