How it happened
• Both teams battled back-and-forth through the first six-plus minutes of the game as the Huskies held a 22-17 lead at the first media timeout of the night.
• St. Cloud State drilled four of its first seven 3-pointers of the game to build the early lead.
• The Vikings grabbed some momentum out of the first timeout as Adam Beyer picked up a steal and took the ball to the rim and slammed one home with the right hand to cut the SCSU lead to 22-19.
• Augustana got within two but the Huskies continued to live by the 3-pointer as Scottie Stone and Jordan Poydras drilled back-to-back triples to put their team up by eight at 28-20 with 11:32 to play.
• Beyer answered with a 3-pointer on the other end that sparked a 16-6 run for the Vikings over the next six and a half minutes allowing them to take their first lead of the night at 36-34.
• Augustana and St. Cloud State would play to three more tie scores in the final four minutes of the first half but the Vikings held a 47-45 advantage at the break.
• Richter led the Vikings with 14 points in the first half on 5 of 6 shooting, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range.
• Daniel Jansen pitched in with 11 while Beyer and Casey Schilling each added nine.
• The Vikings shot 54.8 percent (17 of 31) from the field in the first half, including 4 of 9 from 3-point range.
• Augustana got to the free throw line 10 times in the half, knocking down 9 of 10 from the line.
• SCSU shot 45 percent (18 of 40) from the field in the first 20 minutes, while knocking down 7 of 18 3-point attempts.
• The Vikings jumped out quickly in the second half taking an eight-point 53-45 lead just two minutes into the half after five straight points from Schilling.
• Schilling threw down a big dunk on the fastbreak after picking up a steal.
• On the Vikings next possession he scored his 1,000th career point getting a basket and the foul. He hit the free throw and gave the Vikings the eight point lead.
• The Vikings extended the run to 14-6 through the first four minutes of the half to build a 61-51 lead with 15:31 remaining in the game.
• St. Cloud State was able to cut the lead to six but the Vikings would score 23 of the game's next 34 points to take their largest lead of the night at 88-70 with 5:41 to play.
• Richter helped pull the Vikings away as he scored 10 of his 26 points during that stretch.
• The Huskies would not go away quietly though as they would answer with a 14-4 run over the next three minutes to cut Augustana's lead to eight at 92-84 with 2:23 to play.
• That would be as close as St. Cloud State would get as the Vikings hit nine free throws over the final two minutes of the game to seal the victory.
