SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 12 Augustana College men's basketball shot 90 percent from the free throw line and got 13 points, nine rebounds and eight assists from
Jordan Spencer in an 80-65 win over Concordia-St. Paul (8-6, 4-4 NSIC) on Friday night. With the win, Augustana improved to 14-1 (8-1 NSIC) on the season matching its best start in school history. The Vikings have started 14-1 on two occasions, most recently during the 1987-88 season.
How it happened• Augustana attacked the lane early in the game and jumped out to a 15-9 lead four and a half minutes into the game.
• After
Jordan Spencer drilled the Vikings' first 3-pointer of the night to put the Vikings in front 10-4, CU stormed back to get within one at 10-9 after a Terez VanPelt triple.
• Alex Richter answered with his 3-pointer of the night and the Vikings ran the floor to go back up by six after a frastbreak bucket by Spencer.
• The two teams would play it tight through the next four minutes of the game until Augustana went on a 14-7 run to take its largest lead of the half at 35-26 with 3:49 to play.
• Mike Yahnke then gave the Golden Bears some momentum converting a 3-point-play after slamming one home in the lane to spark an 8-0 run for CU.
