DULUTH, Minn.- No. 20 Augustana soccer extended its unbeaten streak to 10 with a 1-0 victory over Minnesota Duluth on Sunday afternoon at James S. Malsoky Stadium. With the win, the Vikings improved to 10-1-1, 8-0-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the loss drops the Bulldogs to 4-7-1, 3-5-1 in the NSIC.

Stephanie Stevens scored the lone goal for the Vikings, this was Stevens' fourth goal of the season.

Both teams started out slow as try to figure each other out early in the half. Emily Jacobson had a chance in the 31st minute with a nice volley shot, but Carlye Wright came up with the save.

Minnesota Duluth had the best chance late in the first half, but Taylor Machacek and the Augustana defense came up with saves to go into the half deadlock at zero.

The Bulldogs had an early charge in the second half to try to take the lead, but the Vikings defense kept the match scoreless.

In the 67th minute, Stevens took a ball, dribbled up to the box and fired one home, beating the goalie in the lower left corner to give Augustana a 1-0 lead.

The Vikings defense then prevented any type of Bulldogs comeback, limiting the Minnesota Duluth to one shot the entire second half. Machacek picked up her seventh shutout of the season.

Augustana will return home to Morstad Field next weekend as they battle Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday at 11 a.m. and No. 6 Minnesota State Sunday at 1 p.m.
