MANKATO, Minn. - No. 19 Augustana volleyball (11-4, 4-3 NSIC) dropped their second road match of the weekend, this one to Minnesota State (10-5, 4-3 NSIC), 18-25, 25-19, 20-25, 21-25.

For the second consecutive night the Vikings found themselves on the wrong side of final score. Augustana had success in set two, winning 25-19, but could not close out the Mavericks in either of the last two sets.

The Vikings led late in set three, 18-15 but two Minnesota State blocks gave them the momentum that they carried to earn 10 of the next 12 points, and give them a 25-20 set three win.

Set four saw much of the same occur. Vikings led late 16-15 but couldn't put Minnesota State away. The Mavericks went on to score nine of the next 14 points to close out the match.

Augustana was led offensively by junior Brittany Cech, who had a season high 14 kills. She was followed by junior's Becca Finley and Dani Magdzas who each had nine. Augustana had 52 kills as a team.

Sophomore Alex Banker was the leading assists distributor tonight. She had a team high 27, while junior Anna Sykora had 10 and senior Marissa Johnson had seven.

For the second consecutive night the Vikings had new team leader in digs. Tonight Augustana was led by Cech, who had 15 and junior Ivy Pearson who had 14. Sophomore Tahlyr Banks earned 13 digs. The Vikings as a team had 51 digs.

After being out blocked 17-6 last night against Concordia, The Vikings won the blocking battle tonight 6-5. Augustana was led in total blocks by Magdzas, who had four, Junior Becca Finley added three, while sophomore Ashley Wilson had one.

Augustana will look to put this weekends road woes behind them as they return to the comforts of the Elmen Center this coming weekend. The Vikings will play host to Minnesota Crookston at 7 p.m. on Oct. 9 and Bemidji State at 3 p.m. Oct. 10.
