CHADRON, Neb. - The Augustana women's basketball team (3-0) made their way to Chadron State (0-2) Thursday night and walked away with an 82-52 victory, thanks in part to a career-high 21-points from
Logan O'Farrell.
Augustana struck first in Chadron, Neb. thanks to a jumper from
Sophie Kenney, but Chadron would tie the game at two, just two minutes into the game. This would be the closest the Eagles would get the rest of the night. Augustana's largest lead of the game was 30 points.
Logan was well on her way to a career night from the field after she ended the first quarter with nine points while ending the half with 14. In 27 minutes of action Thursday, and battling foul trouble, Logan got to her career-high of 21 by knocking down two free-throws in the fourth quarter. Logan also added five steals and an assist on the night.
Sophie Kenney was the only other Viking to reach double-digits Thursday. Kenney scored 12 points and added five assists and five steals.
Naomi Rust and
Nicole Kerkhoff each added eight points. Rust also added a team-high eight rebounds with Kerkhoff adding seven rebounds of her own.
Shelby Selland had another two blocks this evening, giving her three straight games now with at least one block.
The Vikings will begin Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Monday as they travel to Wayne State. Tip-off against the Wildcats is set for 6 p.m. with the men's game to follow directly after.
