SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Daniel Jansen scored 35 points and hit a career-high six 3-pointers to lift No. 4 Augustana College men's basketball to a 98-87 win over Northern State (18-5, 12-5 NSIC) in front of 3,715 fans at the Sioux Falls Arena on Friday night. The Vikings (22-1, 16-1 NSIC) have won 15 straight games, matching the longest win streak in program history. Augustana won 15 straight games during the 1974-75 season.
The Vikings came out on top of a back-and-forth affair, using a 14-7 run over the final two minutes of the contest to pull away from Northern State. Augustana and Northern State played to 12 tie scores, six in each half, but the Vikings got a spark from back-to-back 3-pointers by
Adam Beyer that began the final push.
Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field for the game with the Vikings finishing 31 of 61 from the field. Augustana has shot 50 percent or better from the field in five straight games. Northern State finished the game shooting 57 percent (32 of 56) from the field, knocking down 8 of 21 3-point attempts. Tydan Storrusten led NSU with 18 points while Spencer Pankonin pitched in with 17.
