SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Daniel Jansen scored 35 points and hit a career-high six 3-pointers to lift No. 4 Augustana College men's basketball to a 98-87 win over Northern State (18-5, 12-5 NSIC) in front of 3,715 fans at the Sioux Falls Arena on Friday night. The Vikings (22-1, 16-1 NSIC) have won 15 straight games, matching the longest win streak in program history. Augustana won 15 straight games during the 1974-75 season.
 
The Vikings came out on top of a back-and-forth affair, using a 14-7 run over the final two minutes of the contest to pull away from Northern State. Augustana and Northern State played to 12 tie scores, six in each half, but the Vikings got a spark from back-to-back 3-pointers by Adam Beyer that began the final push.
 
Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field for the game with the Vikings finishing 31 of 61 from the field. Augustana has shot 50 percent or better from the field in five straight games. Northern State finished the game shooting 57 percent (32 of 56) from the field, knocking down 8 of 21 3-point attempts. Tydan Storrusten led NSU with 18 points while Spencer Pankonin pitched in with 17.  
 
How it happened
• Northern State jumped out to a 13-9 lead four and a half minutes into the contest.
• The Vikings then went on a mini run started by a 3-point-play by Jansen and a two-handed dunk by Zach Huisken off a Jordan Spencer dish to give Augustana a 14-13 lead.
• The two quick scores sparked a 16-7 run for the home team as the Vikings were able to build a 25-20 lead at the midway point of the first half.
• Northern State rallied with a 9-0 run of its own to regain the lead at 31-27.
• Daniel Jansen continued his hot hand for the Vikings answering the Wolves' run with back-to-back 3-pointers to put his team back in front 33-31.
• The Vikings out-scored Northern State 15-9 over the final five minutes of the first half to take a 42-40 halftime lead.
• Jansen led all players with 24 points in the first half, knocking down 4 of 5 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes.
• The Vikings shot 44.8 percent (13-29) from the field in the first half, knocking down 4 of 12 3-pointers.
• Augustana was 12 of 13 from the free throw line in the first half while Northern State was 4 of 5.
• Northern State also finished 4 of 12 from 3-point range in the first half, hitting 53 percent (16 of 30) from the field.
• Spencer Pankonin led the Wolves with 14 first-half points.
• Northern State came out fast in the second half going on a 13-6 run to take a 53-48 lead just over four minutes into the half.
• The Vikings and Wolves would then play to six straight tie scores with the Vikings out-scoring the Wolves 36-27 over the next 13 minutes to hold a four-point 84-80 lead with 2:46 to play.
• The Vikings then closed-out the half on a 14-7 run to pick up their 15th straight win.
• Adam Beyer came up big for the Vikings in the second half, scoring 15 of his 17 points in the final 20 minutes.
• Beyer connected on 5 of 7 shots from the field, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range in the second half.
• Casey Schilling added 10 points, four rebounds and three assists in the second half while going 4 of 6 from the field.

• Jansen's 35 points marks the fourth time he has scored 30-plus points in a game in his career.
• Jansen knocked down a career-high six 3-pointers and finished the game 6 of 8 from 3-point range.
• Jansen was also 9 of 10 from the free throw line on the night.
• Adam Beyer's 17 points marks the eighth double-digit scoring effort for the sophomore.
• Jordan Spencer nearly finished with a double-double picking up 10 points and nine assists.
