SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- Augustana University soccer finishes up the nonconference portion of their schedule with a 2-0 over Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday afternoon at Morstad Field. With the victory, the Vikings improve to 2-1, while the Lopers drop to 1-1-2.
Samantha Tymkowicz continues her early scoring surge with another goal, her fourth of the season.
Emily Jacobson picks up her first goal of the season.
Hannah Keirstead picks up her first career assists for Augustana.
Taylor Machacek recorded 3 saves, picking up her first career shutout.
In the first half, both teams started off slow trying to figure each other out, until the 34th minute when Tymkowicz took a long ball pass from Keirstead, moving her way into the box, and beat the goalie to take a 1-0 lead.
The Vikings continued to dominate the pace of play for the rest of half out-shooting the Lopers 7-1.
In the second half, Augustana continued to put pressure on Nebraska-Kearney, to which the the pressure was finally rewarded when Jacobson tapped one in from a wonderful cross pass from
Ellie Knowles to take a 2-0 lead at the 56th minute.
Machacek would then stonewall the Lopers attack making three huge saves in the half to preserve the shutout.
Augustana will hit the road to open up NSIC play with a matchup against Wayne State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
