WAYNE, Neb.- Augustana soccer opens up Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play with a 2-0 victory over Wayne State College Sunday afternoon. With the victory the Vikings improves its record to 3-1, 1-0 in the NSIC, with the loss the Wildcats drop to 0-2-2, 0-1 in the NSIC.

Samantha Tymkowicz continues her scorching pace with her fifth goal of the season. Courtney Allen netted her first career goal at Augustana in the second half. Stephanie Stevens picked up her second assist of the season for Augustana.

In the first half, Augustana started off with a little jump in their step putting pressure on Wayne State early but saves made by Kylie Comba kept the game 0-0. Later in the half both teams had chances to capitalize but the game remained scoreless at the half. The Vikings put up 5 shots on goal in the half, while also accumulating seven corner kicks.     

Early in the second half Allen put one home from a cross from Tymkowicz to put Augustana up 1-0. Wayne State then started to put some scoring chances together, but Taylor Machacek came up with huge saves to preserve the one-goal lead.

In the 84th minute, Tymkowicz took a cross from Stevens and shot one passed the goalkeeper to put the Vikings up 2-0.

The Vikings will be on the road next weekend as they take on NSIC opponents Upper Iowa and Winona State.
