SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana soccer defeated MSU Moorhead 4-0 at Morstad Field on Saturday with strong defense and second half goals. The Vikings improved to 5-3-1 (4-1-1 NSIC) on the season winning their fourth straight.
In the win, the Vikings notched their third straight shutout after not recording one during the first six games of the season. With three second half goals Augustana has now outscored its opponents in the second half of games, 15-5.
Augustana jumped out to an early lead with a goal by junior
Ellie Knowles in the 7th minute. It was Knowles third goal on the season and was assisted by senior
Emily Jacobson good for her fourth assist on the season.
In the second half the Vikings wore down the Dragons with three goals giving Augustana the lopsided victory. Freshman
Claire Dahm (73') and sophomore
Reiley Klose (80') scored their second goals of the season and freshman
Jensen Froehlich (78') scored her first career goal on Dahm's first career assist.
The Vikings continuously put offensive pressure on the Dragons having outshot them 27-7 with 14 shots on goal compared to just one by MSU Moorhead.

Taylor Machacek notched her third consecutive shutout and recorded one save.
Offensively,
Kallie Nordberg led the Vikings with four shots and two shots on goal. Dahm led the team with three points.
Augustana will remain at home for a matchup against Northern State at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2.
