ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Augustana soccer battled the Huskies of St. Cloud State to a 1-1 tie Friday night. With the tie the Vikings move to 9-4-2 (8-2-2 NSIC) on the season and to 2-0-2 in overtime matches this year.
The Huskies got the scoring started with a goal right before halftime. St. Cloud State capitalized off of a free kick just outside of the 18 yard plenty box. Jordan Loya served the ball into a pack of Huskies and Kristine Knief came away with a header goal, giving St. Cloud State a 1-0 lead.
The Vikings came charging back in the second half and tied the game up at 1-1 in the 69th minute.
Mackenzie Main beat the goalie after she came out to defend and Main buried the ball into the back of the net. It was Main's first goal of the season.
Neither the Vikings nor Huskies could score in the two overtime periods, finishing the match in a 1-1 tie. Augustana had plenty of opportunities to score having outshot St. Cloud State in the overtime periods 8-2, but couldn't break through.
The Vikings continue to be a second half team. With their goal in the second half, Augustana improved their second half goal differential to 21-9.
Offensively, Augustana outshot St. Cloud State 23-13 and had 16 shots on goal compared to five by the Huskies.

Claire Dahm and
Samantha Schorzman each had four shots to lead the charge for the Vikings.
Taylor Machacek recorded four saves during the match and moved to 8-4-2 on the season.
Augustana will travel to Minnesota Duluth to play a 1 p.m. match on Sunday. The match will be played at James S. Malosky Stadium in Duluth, Minn.
