SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - No. 6 Augustana (17-2,8-1 NSIC) started off slow Saturday but found their groove quickly to earn a sweep over Minnesota State (25-20, 25-9, 25-17).
The Vikings started the match slow today following a 5-set loss to Concordia-St. Paul just a day ago, but after falling into an early 8-4 hole the Vikings brought their A game. Augustana climbed back into the match slowly and eventually tied the match at 16. Their first lead of the match came shortly after at 18-17 and the Vikings never looked back, earning a 25-20 set win.
Augustana had all the momentum going into set two and it showed early and often. The Vikings earned the first three points and before they knew it, owned a 9-2 lead. Augustana's offensive onslaught continued in the second set as they grew their lead to 16 and closed out the second set 25-9.
In the third and final set, the Vikings fell behind 2-1 before flexing their muscles and taking a 12-5 lead. After scoring eight of the next 11 points the Vikings once again had a double-digit lead at 20-9. The Vikings closed out the match with a 25-17 set three win.
Viking Match
Anna Sykora had the lone double-double Saturday against the Mavericks. Sykora had 33 assists and 10 digs in the match. She added four assisted blocks and a kill.
