Augustana defeats College of Saint Mary 83-57

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana women's basketball picked up their fifth straight win Saturday afternoon, defeating the College of Saint Mary 83-57 in the Elmen Center.

Augustana scored first on a bucket from Paige Peterson before the College of Saint Mary tied it at two. After trailing 9-7 Augustana got a three from Sydney Rome that started a 10-0 run that allowed the Vikings to go into the second with a 20-13 lead.

Early in the second-quarter CSM cut the Vikings lead to five but Augustana against got the lead back to double-digits at 12. Augustana didn't flinch after the Flames got a few buckets, eventually extending their lead to 24 as they went into the locker room with a 47-23 advantage.

Augustana scored the first six points of the third quarter to earn a 30-point lead in the game. After CSM scored five straight points the Vikings scored six straight. Augustana eventually earned a 34-points lead, but went into the fourth with a 70-38 lead.

In the final frame the Vikings earned their largest lead of the game at 35 on a triple from Naomi Rust. The College of Saint Mary had their best quarter of the game scoring 19-points. They were able to cut their deficit 24, but Augustana came out on top 83-57.

• Augustana improved to 3-0 all-time against the College of Saint Mary
• Five Vikings reached double-digit points: Rome (14), Lynsey Prosser (13), Rust (13), Peterson (12) and Logan O'Farrell (10)
• This was the eighth game this season that Logan has reached double-digit points
• Shelby Selland had four blocks
• Peterson led the team in rebounds with seven

Augustana will be back in NSIC play next Friday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. The Vikings will be hosting
Concordia-St. Paul before hosting Minnesota State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
