Soccer Takes on Minnesota State in NSIC Finals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana soccer team is set to play in its second consecutive NSIC Tournament Final on Sunday, Nov. 6. The No. 4 Vikings will take on the No. 2 Mavericks of Minnesota State at 1 p.m. in Minot, N.D.
 
Scouting Minnesota State
Minnesota State is 15-3-2 (12-2-1 NSIC) and are receiving votes in NSCAA Division II Soccer Poll and are ranked No. 4 in the Central Region rankings. The Mavericks have defeated No. 7 Northern State and No. 3 Bemidji State to advance to the NSIC Finals.

Six Minnesota State student-athletes earned All-NSIC selections, highlighted by two players earning first team All-NSIC.

Minnesota State holds a commanding lead in the all-time series against Augustana with a record of 20-2. Minnesota State defeated Augustana 4-0 at Morstad Field on Oct. 9. The Vikings and Mavericks have never met in the NSIC Tournament.
 
Road to the Finals
Augustana entered the NSIC Tournament as the No. 4 seed. The Vikings kicked off the tournament with a 1-0 win over No. 5 Minnesota Duluth at Morstad Field. In the semis, the Vikings took out No. 1 Minot State on a 2-1 victory in double overtime to advance to their second consecutive NSIC Tournament Final.

Minnesota State came into the NSIC Tournament as the No. 2 seed. The Mavericks defeated No. 7 Northern State 1-0 in Mankato, Minn. on Wednesday. The Mavericks advanced to the finals after drubbing No. 3 Bemidji State, 3-0.
