MINOT, N.D. - The Augustana University women's basketball team (9-2, 4-0 NSIC) cruised to a 85-64 victory Friday night against Minot State (2-8, 0-4 NSIC). The Vikings used a 17-0 run early in the first-quarter en route to the blowout win.

Augustana started their first true game of the season a bit slow with Minot State jumping out to an early 4-0 lead. The Vikings quickly got back up to game speed as Shelby Selland scores five straight point to take the lead. After falling into a deficit of five points at 12-7, Augustana was able to get within one at 14-13 after a Sydney Rome Rome. Trailing by one Augustana went on a 10-0 run to end the quarter, taking a 21-14 lead into the second.

The Viking opened the second-quarter by adding seven straight points to the 10-0 run they entered the quarter with, to grab a 26-14 lead. Midway through the second Minot State pulled to within 10-points at 30-20 but Augustana didn't allow them to get any closer as they went into the break with a 41-26 lead.

Augustana opened the third-quarter with four quick points from Paige Peterson to make it 47-31 Vikings. The Vikings continued to add to their lead throughout the quarter, reaching the 20-point mark at 60-40 with 3:11 left in the third. Minot State was able to close on a 7-1 run, but Augustana still lead 61-47 at the end of the third-quarter.

In the final frame the Vikings took a 21-point lead at 73-52 before making it 25-points a few plays later. Augustana dominated the game from start-to-finish, earning an 85-64 win.

Viking of the Game
Logan O'Farrell scored a team-high 17-points in the Vikings victory over the Beavers. O'Farrell added three rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals to her totals.
