ABERDEEN, S.D. – No. 1 Augustana falls to Northern State on the road after the Wolves make 13 of their 23 three-point field goals to defeat the Vikings 90-81 Friday night.
The Vikings (19-2, 16-1 NSIC) fell behind the Wolves early in the first half due in part to Northern State shooting lights out from behind the 3-point line, Northern State shot 56 percent from behind the arc in the first half. For every shot the Augustana made, the Wolves seemed to answer with a three. The Viking went into the break trailing by 15-points, their largest deficit of the season.
The second half saw the Vikings make a strong push at a comeback, pulling to within 10-points with 12 minutes-to-play but the Wolves (13-10, 9-8 NSIC) used a 5-0 run to get their lead back up to 15-points. Augustana continued to fight as senior
Casey Schilling would not let the Vikings go away quietly. But the Vikings 19-game winning streak would come to an end Friday 90-81.
VIKING QUICK HITS• For the first time since Feb. 25, 2015 the Vikings allowed a team to score more than 50-points in a half
• Casey Schilling set a new season-high with 29-points, two shy of tying his career-high
