CROOKSTON, Minn. - No. 22 Augustana (29-11,20-4 NSIC) earned a split with the University of Minnesota Crookston (23-15, 16-8 NSIC) on the Wednesday. The Vikings fell in game one by a score of 7-6 but rebounded to score the final 10 runs of the ball game and defeat UMC 14-9 in game two.

The Vikings saw their eight game winning streak snapped Wednesday afternoon in game one of their doubleheader against Minnesota Crookston. The Golden Eagles scored four runs in the final two innings to upset the Vikings.

The Vikings struck first in the first inning of game one when Patrick Fiala doubled to left center field scoring Alex Fink who singled earlier in the inning. One batter later Alex Beals and Fiala switched placed when Beals doubled to left making it 2-0 Vikings. The Golden Eagles got one back in the bottom of the inning.

After going scoreless in the second inning each team scored two in the third. After Patrick O'Donnell led of the inning with double, Fink picked up the RBI on a single to the right side. Fink then picked up two stolen bases before being driven in by Lucas Barry who singled up the middle. UMC would once again get to within a run after their first two hitters got on and eventually scored.

Augustana added some insurance runs in the fourth inning when O'Donnell singled to third scoring Lucas Wilber who reach base after getting hit by a pitch. Their sixth run of the ball game came just one batter later as Fink hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Justin Warne who double two batters prior.

Minnesota Crookston scored the game's final four runs of the game, two runs in the fifth and two in the sixth, to take a 7-6 lead in the contest. Augustana got a runner in scoring position in the seventh but three strikeouts in the inning proved tragic as Augustana fell 7-6 in game one.

Augustana fell into an early hole in game two as they gave up six runs in the first inning. The Golden Eagles scored their six runs on three hits, two walks and two hit by pitches.

The Vikings didn't stay down for long as they got back into the game in the third inning. Augustana scored their first run of the game after Fink doubled to left scoring Warne. One batter later they cut the deficit in half as Fiala singled scoring Fink and O'Donnell. Ryan Menssen reached base late in the inning on an error by the second basemen. The UMC error though allowed Beals to score making it 6-4 UMC in the third.

After Augustana cut into the deficit UMC was able to extend their lead in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs and making it 9-4.

The Vikings though didn't trail much longer as O'Donnell powered the Vikings back into it. In the fourth inning O'Donnell hit a 2-run home run to make it 9-6 and one inning later he hit his second 2-run home run to tie it at nine. The Vikings scored a run earlier in the fifth inning as well.

In the sixth inning the Vikings took their first lead of game two. With the score tied at two, TJ Davis hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring both Barry and Beals to make it 11-9 Augustana.

The Vikings added one run in each of the final three innings while holding the Golden Eagles scoreless from the fourth inning on to help cap off the come from behind win 14-9 in game two Wednesday.
