KEARNEY, Neb. – The Augustana soccer team dropped their final non-conference match of the season to Nebraska-Kearney, 1-0. The loss drops the Vikings to 1-2-1(0-0-1 NSIC) on the season.

Junior Taylor Machacek led the Vikings on Sunday with five saves. Junior Samantha Tymkowicz paced the Augustana offense with two shots and one on goal.

Augustana outshot the Lopers 9-6, but Nebraska-Kearney was more accurate putting all six shots on goal compared to only four by the Vikings.

In the first half, Nebraska-Kearney jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 7th minute. That would be all the scoring the Lopers would need as they went on to win the match 1-0.

Augustana managed six shots in the first half but only two were on goal. Nebraska-Kearney had two shots and two shots on goal.

In the second half, the Lopers outplayed the Vikings having outshot them 4-3 and put all four shots on goal compared to two by the Vikings.

Augustana will travel to North Dakota next weekend for a pair of NSIC matchups. On Sept. 17 the Vikings will take on Minot State at 11 a.m. in Minot, N.D. The next day Augustana will play against U-Mary in Bismarck, N.D. at 1 p.m.
