MINOT, N.D. – Augustana soccer dropped their NSIC road matchup against Minot State on Saturday, 3-0. Augustana falls to 1-3-1 (0-1-1 NSIC) on the season.
The first half went scoreless before Minot State scored two goals in the second half in a span of less than 30 seconds to take control on the game. The Beavers tacked on a late goal to give them the 3-0 victory.
Minot State outshot Augustana 16-6 and put nine shots on goal compared to five by the Vikings. It was the second time this season that the Vikings were outshot in a game.
Junior
Taylor Machacek had six saves on the game against 16 shot attempts. Junior
Samantha Tymkowicz led the Vikings offensively with three shots and two shots on goal.
The Beavers controlled the first half, but the Vikings continuously staved off Minot State shot attempts. Minot State outshot the Vikings 9-1 with five shots on goal compared to only one by Augustana.
Early in the second half the game changed as Minot State scored two goals less than 30 seconds apart. The Beavers scored their first goal 5:07 into the second half and scored their second 24 seconds later.
The Beavers added another goal in the 78th minute to put the game out of reach.
Minot State outshot the Vikings in the second half 7-5. The Beavers and Vikings each had four shots on goal.
Augustana stays in North Dakota and will play U-Mary at 1 p.m. in Bismarck, N.D. tomorrow.
