SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana soccer will play at home for the first time in 2016 after spending the first three weeks of the season on the road. The Vikings will bring a record of 2-3-1 (1-1-1 NSIC) into their home opener. Augustana fell to now No. 16 Minot State last Saturday, before using a strong second half to upend U-Mary on Sunday.
Scouting Upper Iowa
The Vikings open the weekend at home against Upper Iowa at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23 at Morstad Field. Upper Iowa enters the match with a 2-3 (1-2 NSIC) record. Last week the Peacocks fell to Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State.
Upper Iowa leads the series with a 4-2-2 record all-time against the Vikings. Last season the two teams tied 1-1 in Fayette, Iowa.
Scouting Winona State
Augustana will be back on the road on Sunday, Sept. 25 as they travel to Winona, Minn. to take on Winona State at 12 p.m. Winona State has started the season 4-2 (1-2 NSIC) and will play travel to Wayne State on Sept. 23 before their game against Augustana.
Winona State own the series lead over Augustana with a 10-3 advantage, but Augustana has won three straight matchups against the Warriors.
The Vikings defeated the Warriors in Winona, Minn. last season 1-0 and again in the NSIC?Championship in Mankato, Minn. 1-0.
