SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - No. 8 Augustana (13-1, 6-0 NSIC) made quick work of the University of Mary (7-8, 2-4 NSIC) Friday night earning the sweep of the Marauders (25-19, 25-18, 25-19). Friday night's win over U-Mary was the program's 900th victory.
Augustana started out with four straight points before allowing U-Mary to get on the scoreboard. The Vikings then put a string of two-point rallies together to make it 13-6 midway through the first set. U-Mary was only able to cut the deficit down to four before Augustana earned a six-point win.
The second set started looking like anyone's set with U-Mary taking their first lead of the night at 2-1. The Vikings quickly rallied to make it 4-3, grabbing the lead that they wouldn't surrender the rest of the set. Midway through the set Augustana earned a five-point lead, before making it a seven on their way to a 25-18 set two win.
In the final set of the night, the Vikings fell into an early 2-0 hole and saw their deficit get as large as four at 7-3. After Augustana took a timeout, the Vikings began their climb to the top. They tied the set at 11, and then once again falling behind at 12-11. Augustana strung together nine straight points to grab a 20-12 lead and eventually close out the match with a 25-19 set three win.

Courtney Place had a great match the Vikings with a match-high 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .333. Place added four digs, four blocks and one to service ace for the match.
