SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana soccer team (10-2-4, 9-1-3 NSIC) played St. Cloud State (8-7-1, 6-6-1 NSIC) to a scoreless tie on Sunday afternoon at Morstad Field.
In the scoreless tie, the Vikings tied the school record for most shutouts in a season (11) and
Taylor Machacek tied her single season record for shutouts (11) which were both set back in 2015.
Samantha Tymkowicz broke the school record for most career appearances with her 78th game played on Sunday. Tymkowicz passed Kelly Dudgeon who set the record of 77 appearances from 2002-05.
The Vikings outshot the Huskies 16-9, but St. Cloud State held the shots on goal advantage with a 6-5 edge.
Machacek recorded six saves for the Vikings and leads the NSIC in shutouts. Tymkowicz led the Vikings in shots with four and
Rebekah Thoresen and
Kelly Partington had three apiece.
In the NSIC standings, the Vikings sit in a tie for third with Minot State (11-4-1, 10-3-0 NSIC) with 30 points. Bemidji State (13-0-2, 11-0-2 NSIC) is the top team in the NSIC and Minnesota State (13-2-1, 11-1-1 NSIC) is in second. There are two games left in the regular season and the top eight teams in the conference advance to the NSIC tournament.
Augustana returns to Morstad Field on Friday, Oct. 27 for a 3 p.m. contest against crosstown rival Sioux Falls for their last regular home match of the season. The Vikings wrap up the regular season on the road against SMSU on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
