MARSHALL, Minn. - The Augustana soccer team (12-2-4, 11-1-3 NSIC) recorded its school record 12th shutout on the season in a 3-0 victory over SMSU (1-16, 1-14 NSIC) in Marshall, Minn. on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings now set their sights on the NSIC tournament that will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
The Vikings surpassed the school record of 11 that was set in 2015 and senior 
Taylor Machacek picked up her NSIC best 12th shutout of the year. Machacek recorded six saves on the afternoon and also surpassed her previous school record of 11 set in 2015.
After playing a scoreless first half in Marshall, the Vikings exploded for two goals in two minutes five minutes into the second half. 
Ellie Knowles got the scoring started in the 48th minute beating the defense herself and putting the Vikings up 1-0. 
Reiley Klose scored less than two minutes later to give the Vikings a 2-0 advantage. 
Courtney Almendinger recorded an assist on Klose's goal.
Coming off of a hat trick against USF on Friday, 
Samantha Tymkowicz added her ninth goal of the season in the 72nd minute to give Augustana a 3-0 lead. Knowles notched her first assiston the season on the goal and finished with a team-high three points.
Knowles led the Vikings with seven shots, followed by fellow seniors 
Mackenzie Main, 
Courtney Almendinger and Tymkowicz with three apiece.
The Vikings have concluded the regular season and will host the first round of the NSIC tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Morstad Field at 3 p.m. against an opponent that will be determined later today.
