SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana women's soccer team (12-2-4, 11-1-3 NSIC) concluded the regular season with its best offensive weekend of the year and broke the school record for shutouts in a season, but the Vikings have their sights set on the NSIC tournament.
Augustana earned the No. 3 seed after finishing the season with an 11-1-3 record in NSIC play. The Vikings will open the 2017 NSIC tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Morstad Field at 3 p.m. against No. 6 seed Concordia-St. Paul (10-7-1, 8-6-1 NSIC).
Scouting Concordia-St. Paul
The Golden Bears are 10-7-1 (8-6-1 NSIC) and earned the No. 6 seed in the NSIC tournament. This will be the Golden Bears second NSIC tournament appearance in three years (No. 8 in 2015) and their eighth appearance since 2003
Jordan Rowan-Stafford and Jade Weller each lead Concordia-St. Paul with four goals and Rowan-Stafford leads the way in assists (six) and points (14). Â Emily Nelson and Jordyn Clark have split time in the net for the Golden Bears, combining for seven shutouts on the year.
Augustana won the lone matchup this season on Oct. 6 at Morstad Field, 5-2. It was the Vikings highest scoring output of the season. Augustana owns a 9-2-1 all-time series record and has won five straight matches against Concordia-St. Paul by a combined score of 15-5.
NSIC Tournament
The top eight teams in the final regular season standings earned a bid to the NSIC Tournament. The top-four teams will host the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Nov. 1 and the highest remaining seed will host the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3 and the finals on Sunday, Nov. 5.
Minnesota State (15-2-1, 13-1-1 NSIC) earned the No. 1 seed after winning the NSIC regular season title. They are followed by No. 2 Bemidji State (14-0-3, 12-0-3 NSIC), No. 3 Augustana, No. 4 Minot State (12-4-2, 11-3-1 NSIC), No. 5 U-Mary (11-4-2, 9-4-2 NSIC), No. 6 Concordia-St. Paul, No. 7 Winona State (9-8-1, 8-6-1 NSIC) and No. 8 Minnesota Duluth (10-5-3, 7-5-3 NSIC).
