SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – First place finishes in nine of the 14 events led the Augustana swim team to another outstanding performance during day two of the triangular Saturday morning inside the Midco Aquatic Center.
The Vikings defeated the University of Mary, 172.5 to 89.5 and Northern State University, 178 to 84.
Augustana started out the meet fast, with a first place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. Freshman
Taylor Beagle was crowned champion in the 1000 yard freestyle in the second event.
The Vikings continued their winning ways in the third event, as
Destini Oehlertz won the 200 yard freestyle. In the 100 yard butterfly, freshman
Kelsey Gilbert earned a first place finish.
Emma Miller helped Augustana continue to dominate day two with a first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle.
In the eighth event of the day,
Taylor Beagle won the 100 yard freestyle while
Micah Hudlet finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke. The Vikings wrapped the meet up with a championship effort in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
Augustana returns to action when the Vikings take on Minnesota State on Friday, Oct. 27.
