Soccer Takes on Bemidji State in the NSIC Semifinals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The No. 3 seed Augustana women's soccer team (13-2-4) is set to take on its next challenge of the NSIC tournament. The Vikings get second seeded Bemidji State (15-0-3) on Friday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. in Mankato, Minn. in the NSIC semifinals.

The other NSIC semifinal match will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday in Mankato as No. 1 seed Minnesota State (15-2-2) takes on No. 5 seed U-Mary (12-4-2). The winners of each match will advance to the NSIC finals on Sunday, Nov. 5 in Mankato at 2 p.m.

Scouting Bemidji State
The Beavers are 15-0-3 and defeated No. 7 seed Winona State, 3-2, in the NSIC first round. The Beavers are ranked No. 14 in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 poll and rank fourth regionally. The Vikings sit in sixth regionally.

Bemidji State swept the 2017 NSIC individual awards. Rachael Norton was named Offensive Player of the Year, Miranda Famestad was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year, Catherine Arneson earned Goaltender of the Year, Allyson Smith got the Freshman of the Year nod and Jim Stone was named Coach of the Year. Overall the Beavers had four first team All-NSIC selections and three second team honorees.

Rachael Norton leads the Beavers and the NSIC in points (38), goals (14) and assists (10). Catherine Arneson is 8-0-2 in 12 appearances and 10 starts in the net for the Beavers and is fourth in the NSIC in shutouts (six)

Augustana and Bemidji State tied in their lone meeting this season on Oct. 15 in Bemidji, Minn., 1-1. The all-time series between the Vikings and Beavers is tied at 6-6-2, but Augustana is unbeaten in the last five matches against Bemidji State.
