EDINBORO, Pa. – Augustana University junior guard
Jordan Spencer has been named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-America Honorable Mention team, the organization announced Monday.
Voting for the D2CCA Men's Basketball All-America Teams was conducted by the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors from institutions and conference offices.
Spencer, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard from Milton Keynes, England, was recently named to the D2CCA All-Central Region First Team.
Spencer earned All-NSIC First Team honors in 2016-17 after twice being named to the second team following his freshman and sophomore seasons. He finished the year averaging 15.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game. Spencer dished out 242 assists this year, which is the second most in a single season at Augustana, two shy of his single season record of 244 which he set as a sophomore in 2015-16.
He dished out five or more assists in 27 of 33 games this season, including 10 or more assists seven times. Spencer scored in double-figures in 29 of 33 games, recording 20-plus points nine times. He is the NCAA Division II career active leader in assists with 688, which is also Augustana's all-time career record. Spencer is one of just nine active players in NCAA Division I, II or III with 1,000-plus career points and 600-plus career assists.
Spencer is the fourth player at Augustana to earn D2CCA All-America (formerly Daktronics All-America) honors, joining Cameron McCaffrey,
Daniel Jansen and
Casey Schilling.
Augustana made its 14th overall and third straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015-17. The Vikings finished 24-9, advancing to the NCAA Central Region Tournament semifinals for the third straight year. Augustana has now won 20-plus games seven times in the last two years, including three straight seasons.
