Alex Banker lifted the Augustana volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds Saturday night in the Vikings Oredigger Classic finale.
"We came out with fire and energy, made adjustments quickly and had great contributions from our bench," head coach
Jennifer Jacobs said.
Banker, an Omaha Neb. native, had 29 assists and 10 digs to go along with a .500 hitting percentage. Place also had a .500 hitting percentage Saturday night.
Senior
Bailey Koch notched eight kills on the evening to go along with a .412 hitting percentage while Libero
Tahlyr Banks tallied 10 digs.
The Vikings (3-1, 0-0) took the first set 25-20, the second set 25-23, and clinched the match with a 25-14 third set.
The second set went back-and-forth between ENMU and Augustana. The Vikings were trailing 18-16, but a Vikings timeout followed by A kill by
Lauren Waite and back-to-back kills by Place gave Augustana a spark.
The Vikings leave the Oredigger Classic with three wins on the weekend.
"It was a great first weekend for our team," Jacobs said.
The Vikings return to action for their home opener on Wednesday vs. Texas A&M – Kingsville at 7:30 p.m.
