ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Augustana soccer team (6-1-2, 5-0-1 NSIC) continued its hot stretch with a 1-0 victory over Northern State (3-5, 2-4 NSIC) in Aberdeen, S.D. on Friday afternoon.
The Vikings win over the Wolves upped their school record shutout streak to seven matches and have won six straight. Five of the six wins by Augustana this season have come by 1-0 victories. The Vikings have matched their season long win streak from last season.
Augustana moves to 10-8-1 all-time against Northern State and have won the last seven matches against the Wolves. In those seven wins, six have come by one goal.
The Vikings got off to their fastest start of the season with a goal six minutes into the match. 
Samantha Tymkowicz netted her third goal of the season on a pass from 
Reiley Klose to give Augustana the 1-0 lead.
Augustana controlled most of the match, but Northern State brought pressure late in the match in an effort to tie it up. The Vikings thwarted the Wolves attempts en route to a 1-0 win.
Tymkowicz's goal proved to be the game winner and with her goal she broke the school record for most game winning goals in a career with 13. Tymkowicz also moves into a tie for second in school history in goals scored (30).
Taylor Machacek recorded three saves and picked up her seventh shutout of the season. Machacek has garnered more shutouts this season (7) than last season (6) and is four away from tying her career-high in shutouts for a season (11).
The Vikings will wrap up the weekend on the road against MSU Moorhead on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. in Moorhead, Minn.
