ST. CHARLES, Mo. – A full day on a bus on Thursday couldn't curb the Augustana Volleyball team's momentum, as the Vikings ran their winning streak to four on Friday, with a 3-1 win over Truman at the Lindenwood Challenge.
The Vikings, who won by the set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 16-25 and 25-19, improve to 5-1 heading into the nightcap against the host Lions, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-4 on the season.
A strong AU offense led the charge, as the Vikings hit .237 for the match, with three players posting double-digit kills, led by
Courtney Place with 14.
Ashley Wilson added 12 kills and
Bailey Koch 11 in the win. Koch hit an impressive .500 for the match as well, getting her 11 kills on 20 swings with just one error.
Alex Banker racked up 45 set assists, while
Tahlyr Banks led the way on defense with a match-high 34 digs.
Hanna Justesen added 16 digs as the only other Viking to post double-figure digs.
The Vikings take on tournament hosts Lindenwood on Friday at 7 p.m., and then close the tournament with two matches on Saturday, starting with St. Mary's (Texas) at 11:30 a.m., followed by a match against Illinois-Springfield at 4:30 p.m.
