Soccer Kicks Off Homecoming Weekend On Friday

Vikings Take On Crookston On Friday and No. 3 Bemidji State on Sunday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- With a pair of wins last weekend, the Augustana women's soccer team now returns to Morstad Field to kick off the homecoming weekend Friday, before finishing with senior day on Sunday. The Vikings (9-3-2, 8-2-1 NSIC) are coming off of a weekend sweep against Northern State and MSU Moorhead, racking up their seventh and eighth shutouts of the season. The team returns home to Morstad field where they are 4-1-0 on the season. Friday, the Vikings will take on Minnesota Crookston (1-11-2, 1-8-2 NSIC) at 4 p.m., and No. 3 Bemidji State (14-0-0, 12-0-0 NSIC) at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Scouting Augustana:
After posting a pair of shutout win over the week, the Vikings wrapped up the weekend with a 2-0 road trip. Friday's game against Northern State saw midfielder Jensen Froehlich net the Vikings one and only goal, and on Sunday, senior Rebekah Thoresen set a career-high with two goals. Over the weekend, Claudia Pueschner faced 28 shots, totaled 11 saves, and lowered her goals against average to .631. The redshirt first stands second in GAA, and 1st in goals allowed with just eight. Offensively, Augustana is led by Alexis Legg with eight goals, and Peyton Stenzel leads the team with four assists. Grace Behm has chipped in 42 shots and stand 6th in the NSIC in shots per game, averaging more than three per game.

At 9-3-2 overall, the Vikings stand in third place in the NSIC. With just four games left in the regular season, Augustana is keeping one eye on postseason play. The top-four teams in the NSIC will host the opening round of the postseason, which is set to start Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Scouting Minnesota Crookston:
The Golden Eagles (1-11-2, 1-8-2 NSIC) most recent losses come from an 8-0 deficit against Minnesota State Mankato on Friday evening. On Sunday, Crookston dropped a 2-0 contest to  Concordia-St.Paul. The Golden Eagles are led by Maggee Hodgdon, who has netted three goals this season as a freshman. Following Hodgdon is Vanessa Shelton, Lindsey Daml and Jessica Withrow with one goal each.

Scouting No. 3 Bemidji State:
Last week BSU pushed its record to 14-0-0 overall and 11-0-0 in league play. On Friday, the Beavers earned a 3-0 victory over Concordia-St. Paul behind the seventh shutout of the season from Anna Fobbe. On Sunday, freshman Sara Wendt scored in the 105th minute to earn a 3-2 double-overtime victory over No. 22 Minnesota State University, Mankato. With 14 goals this year, BSU's all-time scoring leader Rachael Norton leads the NSIC and ranks sixth in the nation in goals scored.
